Nate Stevens I knew of Mr. Vogt from his Anjunadeep release, so I was delighted to find a piano album. As I listened during my workday I was really swept up and captivated by the theme of the album. It felt clear and deliberate, yet also kind of effortless in a way. I often get shivers listening to this album, thinking about what it's saying, and I like that a lot. Favorite track: Music For Interviews.

Asterico: Everything in our lives is political. Let’s just put that straight: everything you do, everything you see, everything you live in is political. You just cannot separate politics and our lives apart, it’s one, it’s one thing we’re talking about. Tom Szirtes: Everyone can decide what’s right for them, but - I think doing nothing is not defensible. We’re so spoiled with so many treats and we got used to consuming. It’s cheap and it’s easy and that’s fantastic, but it has a cost. But a cost we don’t see. And that’s what we need to address as a society when we buy that fast fashion. We need to know what the true cost of that is, when we have that hamburger or whatever. We need to know what the true cost of that is and we don’t. Or we’re willfully ignorant of it - and that’s what for me I never want to be. Danny Howells: More and more people around the world are waking up to the fact that we do not need to be eating animals to survive. Our obsession with eating animals is killing the planet, is killing the oceans. As more and more people wake up to this I think the governments need to really be stepping in and also (you know) helping some farmers to diversify. Move into areas that are gonna help to keep the planet alive. Stop animals from being exploited in this way, because this really is going to be the future. If you look at the fact that we’re growing food worldwide to feed seventy billion land animals every year, just so that we can then kill those seventy billion land animals to feed seven billion humans: none of that makes any sense at all. When you think about that, as think about what we are actually doing: growing that much food, clearing all those lands, clearing space for these animals to live on - even though they are gonna be there for a very short time before they’re killed - none of that makes any sense. We’re doing all of that to feed seven billion people, where as we could just grow the food to feed seven billion people, which would create so many fewer problems, and actually give this planet a chance of surviving, which right now it doesn’t. C'est vivre on- and off grid. Daphne Fernberger: I think society and politicians could do a lot more. I think a lot of people feel how I once felt: that the issue is so far from them, it’s so much bigger than them that they can’t do anything to help it. But if each from us where to take responsibility for our own actions we really would turn the tide. I also think politicians and leaders alike can be braver - much braver - and focus on values for everyone, for the health of individuals and the planet.

Danny Howells: Change for everybody is needed now more than ever. You know, if we’re looking at the irreparable damage that we are causing to the environment, the fact that we’re having these pandemics in the first place, three in four of these modern infections are coming from exploitation of animals, it has made me realize that now is the time that we have to do something, otherwise we have no chance. Daphne Fernberger: I would change the whole approach, the whole focus. I think if we where to focus on the health of the the individual and the whole, all the answers would be sitting right in front of us. I don’t think it’s hugely complicated if we allow society to change for the better, I really think it’s possible. I also think of in ancient china, when the family would pay their doctor when they where healthy, not when they where sick - and that’s a huge change in approach. Tom Szirtes: So much of our economy is based on basically exploiting natural resources - we need to be here sustainably, we do share the planet with other creatures we rely on - we have to find a balance. Asterico: Two weeks ago the treaty for prohibition of the nuclear weapons (TPNW) that proposed the UN treaty has gained 50 signatories from nation states, which was required for it to entering to force. That was a big thing. That was the main job I’ve been working on the last two years as a part of ICON international campaign to abolish nuclear weapons and that was many peoples goal for many many many years. That came true. That came to reality. So we are thinking of a next step forward and I still do think that my job is to connect the Japanese community to this international sphere. Also just letting people know that this exists and we do have hope in this treaty to get rid of all the nuclear weapons. The next step for myself as a person is trying to let as many people know that this exists now and this is the way the world is changing. Because: ten years ago this was impossible to even imagine, but it exists now, yeah! So, people should know about this - people should know what we’ve done and what we can do.

Danny Howells: Well, am I afraid of the future? Well I don’t think the future is looking too great right now. Unless people in their masses make huge huge huge changes to the way they live. I don’t really have much hope really. I don’t want to sound too negative but that is just the way I feel. Daphne Fernberger: So I really focus on the things that go towards a better future. And fear doesn’t help. Honesty does and changes do. Tom Szirtes: I am, I am afraid of the future. Is afraid the right word? I have concerns about the future. I don’t know if it is because I’m getting older. The future of the world seemed a much less planned place and much less certain place when I was growing up, for all sorts of reasons. Than nothing else, climate change is the biggest of those. Our systems are not going to survive and that’s fundamentally going to change everything. I’m not sure our societies will be able to adapt quickly enough. Asterico: When you are talking about climate change and all the massive bushfire that happens in Australia - and it’s happening quite often and it’s getting worse - and that current huge fire in California and all the other stuff, then yes it’s scary. But life has always been a mixture of fear and excitement and pain and happiness, right? That’s life. So - yes I am afraid and I am excited and I am hopeful about the future. And all we can do is just to live for the moment, until for the moment won’t come anymore.

Outro 01:32
Asterico: So I am very glad to know that Matthias is doing this project, which is a beautiful combination between the music and climate change action, right? So I really do hope that you enjoy this project and I really do hope to see more talented artists like himself will come up and do similar projects. I hope they realize how powerful and effective they are. Not just as an artist, but also to make impact, to make change in this political sphere, too. Because people already listening to them. They are loved and listened by so many people. They already have connections, they already have a pipe to let their voice heard. So yeah, I just hope to see more artists to be more politically active and (you know) we as an audience will get to hear or see more of these collaborations between two different things, politics and music, politics and paintings, stuff like that in our daily lifes. Then I think it’s going to be very helpful for every single one of us to be politically aware or active, or at least have our own opinion. Yeah.
